A shadow crept layzily across the terrain, dodging tre trunks and boulders. Rival was making no attempt to hide herself. Doing so would only aggrivate the land owners. She was close to the boarder of a territory, she could smell it.
The rusteling leaves blown by the wind helper her determine where she was going. She was in a forest, this was obvious. The time of day or night did not matter to her. Everything was the same: Black.
If she had been given better eyes, she would have seen that it was nearing dusk. A wide range of red clouds covered the once blue sky and a shadow was creeping over the land. It was forboding to see, but she could not. Only sound, taste, touch, and smell came to her. Sight was lost.
It was because sight was gone that she had better sences than other wolves. She could hear more acute sounds, taste the hidden flavors, feel in better detail, and smell the disguised scents.
Rival concidered herself lucky. She was strong too. Those who had their sight could compare her structure to a big cat's, but they would also see the long scar across her left side. Left from an incident she would rather not talk about. She had been stupid, and she now knew better.
She prefered to keep herself occupied in the present. Stopping at the boarder, she lifted her head and howled. Hopefully, one would hear her deep tones and come to investigate.

His dark colored pelt fit in almost perfectly in the shadows of the night, the only thing sticking out being the green. Silver eyes only added to his already ragged appearance, cold and hard with just a hint of ammusement. The accessories on his ears clicked together steadily as he padded on through his lands, the lands of his father. The Zaevrian Pack. The trees towered over him and casted their shadows onto anything and everything. This was his forest and his pack were the demons that guarded it. There was no way dogs were going to find thei way into this territory. He would make sure of that.
Two toned ears perked up as a howl reached him, a small frown coming over his maw. Who would call at a time like this? It sure wan't the fox leader. The howl was too....different from what he was used to. Saei cocked his head to the side slightly in wonder as to what would be doing this before continuing towards the sound. His paws turned over rocks that made up his path, getting an irritated growl from the male. Saei would never get used to those as long as he lived.
Slowly the border came into veiw as well as the scent of another wolf. Female. A different sight for Saei, that much was for sure. He smirked at her, making a slow circle in front of her until he stood in front of the female. Tail raised slightly as well as his ears. "Well, well. What do we have here? A lone female in the lands of Zaevrian? Why are you here?" His tone changed as he asked the last question from one of enjoyment to the tone of an alpha demanding answers.

Eyes glanced down in the direction of the sound of paw steps. Claws emitted a gentle click-clack when bashed carelessly across the surface of the stones. Though it didn't matter where Rival looked, all she saw was black. Still, it made her feel as if she had some hope of catching a glimps of something, even if she knew it would never happen.
Ears perked and were thrust backwards as the voice of a male was sounded. The wind was not in her favor now. If it was, she wouldn't have been so surprised. Even so, she hid her shock by answering the male as calmly as she could. "I come to join your ranks, Sir. I'm in need of a pack."
Rival's voice had the slight tone of a relaxed, but alert male. It didn't matter to her. She was never one for feminism anyway. Most of the females in her old pack were too caught up in the clenliness of their fur to notice what was going on around them. Foolishness...
The dark wolfess was brought back to reality when the wind changed. Blank eyes glanced upward as the male's scent filled her nostrils. As his body blocked the wind, she could paint a mental picture of him. He was two inches shorter than her with a lanky build. She grinned inwardly. If it came down to a fight, she could overpower him with her strength, but he might prove to be a difficult case if he was quick of mind and feet.

Ah. So she wished to join, did she? Well, Saei didn't let just anyone in his pack. It wouldn't help to have someone who liked dogs to join a pack that was out to rid the land of the dogs. There would need to be some questioning involved. The darkened pelted male snorted slightly before he twitched an ear to see if anyone else was near. He wouldn't put it past anyone these days to send an ambush. Not hearing anyone else, Saei allowed himself to relax to a degree. He still kept himself on all four paws and on high alert should someone attack.
"Well, it would help if a name was given." He paused for a split second before continuing. "Saei. Alpha of this land. You would do well to remember that." It was true. Saei took no disrespect towards himself. He had grown up knowing nothing but the power he held over others and thus, his ego had grown to quite a degree. And even so, he still could fight. If this female wanted to pick a fight, he would bring it. Until then, he wouldn't make a move.
He lifted his head slightly, maw opening to take a breath. "You do know that we are in the middle of a war, right? There will be no soft-hearted wolves here to disrupt what I have built. The same goes for wolves attempting to overthrow me. My son will take the spot as Alpha and no one else." He might not have had to say that, but anyone who wanted acceptance into the pack would need to know that.

At request of a name, the blind wolf submitted it. "Rival," she said in the same raspy voice. She let out half a sigh of relief as the male continued on. She had a chance at joining now that names had been exchanged.
Ears perked as the announcement of war was given and a grin appeared over her face of stone. Now she had to join. Not only did she want to prove her worth as a fighter, but also that the fact that she was sight-less did not effect her power.
The question of a soft-heart did not affect her decision to join. Although she was in no way cold-hearted, she did no what it took to stay alive. That was enough. As for the thought of overthrowing the current dynasty, damn the very idea of it. She was no leader, even though she was not much of a follower either.
"You have nothing to worry about from me, Lord Saei," she said after emitting something of a chuckle, "I have no interest in taking this pack from you. If I may, Sir, what pack or packs do you fight against? What is the cause of this war?"
A slight itch scratched at the back of her mind, digging away at her attention. Had this wolf noticed she was blind yet, or was he blind as well? Did he even care to notice? No matter. She would join whatever pack that would have her. She need not question it.

Ideas of an overthrow was quickly dismissed at her words. Her word was only one. There was no way someone could trust anothr on word alone. Until this Rival proved herself, he would watch and wait. She seemed interested in the war that he mentioned. Maybe another fight-loving wolf. So far, so good. Maybe she would make a good addition to the pack. Maybe. There were still many different factors to concider.
"A long time ago, this land belonged to the wolves and foxes. Then dogs started coming into our land and taking our territory. The pack was split in half, one with the dogs, the other wanting to rid the land of the pests. Jetrain started the war against the dogs until he was slaughtered. Then my father took his place as Alpha. I was born and chosen to be the heir. And now, here I am. The Foxes have joined us as Allies in this war. The Kianri Pack wants to live with the mutts peacefully." Basic history in a nutshell. The dogs were taking over their land and he wanted to stop it. Simple.
If she had any other questions, she could just come out and ask it. He wasn't about to hide anything from her, as long as it kept in certain barriers. Saei wasn't going to spill his entire plan to someone he didn't even know anything about. Even so, questions about his ranks and pack fell into his range. Rival would need to join to figure that out.

Rival listened intently. She neither knew nore cared for the difference between dogs and wolves, but if they were invading land that belonged to wolf, the answer was clear: War. She nodded as he finnished. She did, in fact, know what foxes were. She had had her share of incounters with them. They were small, but crafty and sly creatures. Usefull in times of trouble when they were on your side.
"So what are the requirments for joining Zaevrian, Sir?" She had skipped commenting on the war. In her honest oppinion, her oppinion didn't matter. She wasn't going to tell the Alpha of a pack she didn't belong to what she thought of the way he ran things.

"Depends. you searching for a rank or just someone to watch over you?" Slight joke at Rival's expense. Not like Saei cared one bit. She wasn't his friend. Most wolves in the pack hated him anyway because of his attitude towards them. And of course, he would always never care what they thought. Unless they were close friends. The dark pelted male yawned, ears pulling back as he did so.
Saei scratched at his ear, bored already at this. "If you don't want a rank, just tell me what you're good at, so on so fourth. If you're looking for a certain rank, just tell me what rank and 'll test you on it." Boredom was obviously settling in. The tone of his voice gave it away. The alpha wanted to get this over with and get on with his life.

Rival ignored the joke. She was used to being teased and taunted. She did not care for them, but she would not retort. He would find that, despite her lack of vision, she might be a vital part of his pack one day. She simply smiled at his sence of humor for the time being.
"I'd like to try out for the rank of Warrior. I don't want to sound arrogant, but is the rank of Warrior General available?"

Warrior? She wanted to be a warrior? Saei couldn't help but laugh. It was true he needed more warriors, but he had a male that would be better for the job of General than some female who hadn't even been offically welcomed into the pack yet. Regaining his composure, the Alpha Male took a deep breath.
"Sorry, but I know you wouldn't be right for the position. Besides, I already have a warrior who's been a warrior longer than you have. Why should I give you the position?"

"I don't need the rank of General, Sir, I was just asking," came her quick answer. She said it with a smile, which was something a a big deal. But she would not attack. She would prove herself eventually.
"In my defence, I have spent a whole year out on my own. I've survived this long. What could it hurt?"

Silver eyes ran over the female in front of him. She really wanted to be a warrior by the sound of her words. Still, getting that position wasn't an easy task. Saei needed tough fighters for the fight against the dogs. Not some whimpy wolfess who would run away at the slightest notice of a fight. He narrowed his eyes slightly, head lowering.
"Rank of warrior is a very hard position. Not jsut anyone gets it. I don't care if you were on your own for a year. In order to get a warrior rank, you have to first prove yourself and second either fight a higher ranking wolf, or someone of the same rank. Depending on the fight, you may or may not get the rank."

Rival frowned. If she was going to fight someone, she would rather prove it on the battlefield. She didn't want to have to fight anyone from the pack she was hoping to join. Still, if those were the laws of the land, she would have to abide by them.
"So who do I fight? I'm still a loner, so unless we find another one, I can't fight one of my same rank."

"You will fight me."
Saei smirked, dropping down into a crouch. His ears were perked, tail slowly moving side to side as he made a small circle around Rival. His silver eyes remaine locked onto the female as he moved, waiting for her to do something. Coming to her side, Saei grinned, lunging at her with open jaws. He wasn't sbout to go easy on her. no wayN

Rival's ears perked as the answer came. Sences went on high alert. Muscles tenced as the area around her came alive with vibrations. He was circling her. She could hear the grass screaming as he took each step. She heard the occasional twig snap as a giant paw landed on it. A quick movement at her side told her that Saei had jumped at her. Thinking quickly, she jumped straight backwards, avoiding the attack. She could feel a rough breeze brush passed her. He was fast. She could not match his speed. She would have to catch him and over power him, but first she needed to find him and be able to track him. She could not attack yet.
